Associate Professor Yuliia Fernos Expands Professional Competencies by Successfully Completing an International Course in Effective Communication

Yuliia Fernos, Associate Professor at the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages at Uman National University of Horticulture, has successfully completed the international online course "Effective Communication in the Food Industry," organized by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Food (EIT Food).

Communication is a key competency that interests educators regardless of the specific field of its application. After all, the department prepares specialists in various directions and specialties, and each of them needs developed skills in effective professional communication.

Participation in an international educational program is a valuable experience that allows one to learn more about various types of communication, communication styles, methods of influence and persuasion, as well as to become acquainted with the best global practices in this field.

The course "Effective Communication in the Food Industry" by EIT Food is a flexible program that can be taken at one's own pace. The main goal: to learn to use communication as a tool for influence, collaboration, and change.

The course consists of two main sections:

  1. Communication Fundamentals – Developing the ability to communicate and interact effectively with others in daily life and work.
  2. Food Industry Communication – Focus on specific aspects of communication in the food industry, including storytelling, campaign creation, and product promotion to consumers.

The course combines theory with practice: each module includes video materials, articles, and interactive tasks for skills development. After successfully passing the final competency test, participants receive an official certificate with the EIT Label.

The participation of faculty members from the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages in international educational programs is important for improving teaching quality and expanding methodological tools. The experience of studying communication strategies, methods of influence, persuasion techniques, and storytelling enriches teaching practice and allows for better preparation of students for the real professional challenges they will face in their future careers.
